Normally, a butterfly can live between 2 days and 1 year.
There are very long-lived species that can survive 30 years in but aft stage (Tinny Yucca Moth).
Otherwise butterflies live more than 2 seasons in the adult stage, ie within one year.
In captivity it definitely will not exceed one year.
